Intro

In spring 2016 filmmakers Sophia Fabiilli and Michelle Alexander wrote and starred in a pilot/teaser for a comedy series called Overachieving Underdogs: about two millennial friends who make a pledge one night – while high on weed brownies – to shake off their dead-end jobs and love lives and try to make their dreams come true. What the team needed was a brand to encompass the project and a website to act as a showcase mechanism for fans and investors to help bring the series to fruition.

The Logo

The logo is supposed to represent that dichotomy of the title: “overachieving” represented by a precise and refined uppercase sans-serif font, contrasted by the hand-drawn haphazard style of the more dominant “underdogs” of the title treatment: the final “s” in particular seeming to slant ever-so-slightly out of the logo to help visibly reflect the unrefined nature of the characters themselves.

The Website

The Overachieving Underdogs website was built on Modulus v.0.7A – a single-page with auto-scroller menu to help jump up and down the page to learn about the project. The lead panel opens with the teaser trailer created by the team, followed by a promotional photo carousel, an overview section about the project, profiles of the lead characters, and a custom-built production team profile carousel designed to work like a digital version of a folio tab folder.
